Providing legal assistance and representation is an essential part of CATU’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring access to justice. Annually, CATU received 25 to 30 cases of labour dispute that CATU have to offers legal advice and consultation to workers relate to unfair dismissal, anti-union discrimination, wage disputes, unlawful contract termination, social security disputes, occupational safety and health violations, and other labour rights abuses. The organization assists workers in filing complaints, preparing documentation, gathering evidence, and navigating labour dispute resolution mechanisms. CATU also represents workers during negotiations, mediation, conciliation proceedings, and, when necessary, legal processes before competent authorities. Particular attention is given to defending workers and union leaders who face retaliation for exercising their rights to organize and bargain collectively. Through its legal support services, CATU helps workers obtain remedies for rights violations while also contributing to greater accountability, stronger law enforcement, and improved protection of labour rights throughout Cambodia.
